The body of a missing Burke County woman—a retired Blowing Rock teacher—was found last night near her home after an extensive search.  Searchers found the body of 68-year old Betty Triplett only about a half mile from her home, that after initial search efforts included areas of Watauga County.  Avery County searchers were  asked to join in the search as efforts—joining some 200 searchers from four counties—their efforts centered around the home of  the woman, said to suffer Alzheimer’s disease. The Burke Sheriff’s office reported that the body of Betty Triplett was found about a half mile from her home Saturday night.
Triplett went missing from the Morganton area Friday morning. According to authorities, Triplett apparently walked away from her home while her family was still asleep.
Investigators have not released a cause of death but they do not suspect foul play. Her cause of death remains under investigation.
