UPDATE: Paving Company Trucker Dies in Wreck PDF Print

Wilkesboro Police have identified the paving company truck driver who died Friday night when his tractor trailer ran off US 421 in Wilkesboro. The accident occurred in the stretch of 421 approaching the main business corridor around 7pm.  Police say witnesses said the truck was from Carl Rose and Sons ran off 421 traveling west, traveled off the road about 150 feet down an embankment 30 to 40 feet high.  The driver was dead when emergency units arrived, but it was not clear whether he died of a medical condition or from injuries sustained in the wreck.  He was identified as Rex Stone, 62, a Wilkes County resident.
