New Bus Service Connects ASU, Charlotte PDF Print

Does traveling with a professional driver at the wheel, catching up via your laptop with free wi-fi, and some of the best scenery out the window sound good? How about doing that for $4 to $16.  It’s real—with the new Mountaineer North/South, a bus route from Charlotte to the ASU campus daily. 151 riders took advantage of the service in the first month of operation—October—and with connections to the rest of the country available, hopes are for many more to take advantage of the new service.  The morning bus departs from Appalachian State University in Boone at 9:15 a.m. and makes stops at the Boone Mall and in the cities of Lenoir, Hickory, Lincolnton and Gastonia before arriving in Charlotte at 12:50 p.m. The evening bus departs from Charlotte at 6 p.m. and makes stops in Gastonia, Lincolnton, Hickory, Lenoir and at the Boone Mall before arriving at Appalachian State University at 9:35 p.m. Arrival and departure times are scheduled so that riders can connect with most Greyhound bus services.
