Sugar Mountain and other High Country ski areas took Mother Nature's cue in the dusting of snow and blew a good bit of their own, then opened the gates to kick off ski season 2010-2011.

With mid-day temperatures still hovering at around 30, snowmaking was in full swing at Sugar Mountain Ski Resort, and a number of folks arrived to take advantage of the early start.  Sugar posted on their website, "Today's opening date is three weeks earlier than last season and just one day shy of Sugar's earliest recorded opening on November 5th back in 1976." Usually, High Country slope operators hope for a Thanksgiving start, but were glad for the early start.
