Day 6 begins today in the search for a South Carolina woman missing from her home for a week as of tomorrow, the search centering in the area of the Blue Ridge Parkway near Sparta.

U.S. Park Ranger Bruce Gagon said 25-year-old Crystal Ham was last seen on Tuesday. He said rangers were made aware of her disappearance on Saturday, when they checked the tag of a Chevrolet Trailblazer left at the Bullhead Mountain overlook, the vehicle at the overlook for about three or four days. Alleghany searchers, aided by dog teams from the Catawba Valley, searched all weekend for the woman at mile marker 234 on the Parkway—this morning’s call for help going to searchers from Ashe and surrounding areas.  Just what circumstances surround the woman’s disappearance are not clear at this point, and why she might have left her car there—also not determined.
