The Watauga County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Division arrested three individuals involved in the sell and distribution of Schedule II Roxycodone.  The investigation stemmed from a vehicle stop which occurred in the parking lot of Pizza Hut in Boone.

As a result of the vehicle stop, detectives located and seized 49 Roxycodone tablets as well as 32.2 grams of marijuana.  A search warrant was later executed on Joseph Lake Bey’s (the driver of the vehicle) residence of 203 Kimberly Drive, Apartment 5.  The search warrant resulted in the seizure of 64 Roxycodone Tablets (Level 1 Trafficking), 184.3 grams of marijuana, and $3,380 in US currency.  The combined number of Roxycodone tablets totaled 113 with an estimated street value of $3,390.  30mg Roxycodone typically sells for $30 per pill.  The marijuana had an estimated street value of $3,000.
Joseph Bey was charged with 2 counts of PWISD (possession with intent to sell and deliver) Schedule II Roxycodone, 3 counts of Trafficking Opium/Heroin, 2 counts of Conspiracy Sell/Deliver Schedule II Roxycodone, PWISD Dolophine (Methadone), Trafficking in Dolophine (Methadone), PWISD Schedule IV Klonopin, PWISD Schedule VI Marijuana, Misdemeanor Possession Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  The passenger, Sarah Kathryn Durant, was charged with PWISD Schedule II Roxycodone, Conspiracy Sell/Deliver Schedule II Roxycodone, Trafficking Opium/Heroin, Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana, and Possession Drug Paraphernalia.
An additional search warrant was executed on the residence of 574 Old E. King Street, Apartment 111, in conjunction with Boone Narcotics Detectives, subsequent to an undercover operation in which Detectives purchased 79 Roxycodone tablets.  As a result of the search warrant, detectives seized 163 Roxycodone tablets (Level 2 Trafficking), 10 Dolophine (Methadone) tablets, and $2,530 in US currency.  The combined total, 242 Roxycodone tablets, has an estimated street value of $7,260.
Anthony Raimondo was charged with 3 counts of Trafficking Opium/Heroin by Possession, Maintaining Veh/Dwell/Place CS, Felony Possession Schedule II Methadone, PWISD Schedule II Roxycodone, Simple Possession Schedule VI Marijuana, and Possession Drug Paraphernalia.
The illegal use of prescription medication has become the number one abused drug in America, this was made extremely clear as a result of the recent Operation Medicine Cabinet, where some 370,000 pills were received, and possibly diverted from the streets.
The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected to follow
