According to Media Officer and local realtor Hugh Sturgill, the Watauga Republican Party is going through some changes- including an increased focus on local issues.
As part of this movement, the party is publishing papers on three issues that it feels affects everyone in Watauga County: property management, water management, and local government’s relationship with Appalachian State University. The first essay, on property management, is available on goblueridge.net, and is something everyone should read, its author, Sturgill says.
He says there many reasons people can lose their property.
While it's okay when those reasons are for safety, he says it's not okay when it's a subjective judgment by "a few elected folks."
As part of the local party’s makeover, Republicans hope to publish two more essays in the near future.
