While a body found in Kraut Creek this morning has been tentatively identified, officials are not releasing a name until it has been confirmed and kin have been notified.
According to Captain Curtis Main with Boone Police Department, it is too early to determine whether foul play was involved. An autopsy should help determine exactly what happened. At this time, Boone Police Department is not sure how long the body had been in the creek. Neighbors, however, allege the creek bank is a popular drinking spot, and say if the body had been there long, someone would have noticed. An investigation is continuing with the assistance of the State Bureau of Investigations. A passer-by discovered the body while walking through the Leola Street Community Gardens in Boone. Boone Police officers arrived at the scene at approximately 8:41 a.m.
An autopsy is expected late this afternoon or early tomorrow, Main said.
