A Saturday night murder lead to the Monday night arrest of two McDowell men after a Marion man’s body was recovered, dumped in a remote Yancey County location.  The Asheville Citizen-Times reports that the body of Samuel Edward Effler, 37, of Marion, was found late Sunday on a remote gravel road in Yancey County but could not be recovered until yesterday morning. By late last night, two men were in custody, charged with Effler’s murder. Michael Warlick, 33, was arrested and charged with the murder by the McDowell County Sheriff's Office, and Jerry Ryan Echols, 26, was charged with accessory after the fact, murder, according to Capt. Shanon Smith.  The newspaper quotes Capt. Smith, saying “The best we can determine is that (the incident) occurred Saturday night sometime around midnight at 550 U.S. 70 in Old Fort,” Smith said. The suspects lived at that home. There was a party, he said, and “there was an argument and it evidently escalated.” Smith said they have recovered a small-caliber rifle that they believe is the murder weapon.
