Round two in the battle of the press conferences over the sales tax referendum—a vote called the recreation referendum by the county commission and the sales tax increase referendum by those in opposition.  That group has arranged to use the commissioners meeting room for their press conference, and have scheduled the event for Tuesday afternoon at 5:15. The “Watauga Co. Citizens Opposed to the 2010 Sales Tax Increase Referendum Committee,” as they are now officially known, say they will allow comments, and have scheduled speakers, including a spokesman from the John Locke Foundation, an educational research foundation, other guests, and members of the “referendum committee”.  Their release says comments will be brief and the press will be allowed to ask questions, and if time allows, citizens may ask questions and/or make brief comments.  Voting continues this week and the referendum is set for a week from Tuesday.
