Lunch Interrupted: Blowing Rock Gas Leak Forces Evacuation, Closes 321 PDF Print
Written by Steve Frank
Tuesday, 20 July 2010 13:17

The main thoroughfare through Blowing Rock was closed during the lunch hour today as a propane leak brought fears of an explosion.  An area from Woodlands Barbecue to the Sunset Drive intersection was evacuated by Blowing Rock firemen as they worked to shut off the propane tank behind the Outback Steak House.  Water was used to help disburse the heavier-than-air gas, and the road was reopened shortly before 1pm.  Video at:  http://www.youtube.com/user/GoBlueRidgeNews
