Fire, Smoke Damage New River Hills Shop

There was some fire and extensive smoke damage in a late afternoon fire at a New River Hills shop.  The call came in for Boone Fire at 4:12 to 402 New River Hills, where smoke was pouring from the lowest level of the building, fire found in the basement when firefighters made entry.  Boone Fire officials Full Story

 
One Man Transported After Vilas Crash

A Zionville man was transported to Watauga Medical Center after a crash late yesterday afternoon on US 421.  The 4:30pm crash occurred near Linville Creek Road in Vilas when Tanner Cole Swift turned out of Charlie’s Auto Repair into the highway and into the path of the vehicle of Alan Clay Burchell Full Story

 
Robbery Reported at Boone Walgreens

Boone Police are investigating a robbery at the local Walgreens Drug from Sunday night after a man reportedly robbed the store, inferring he had a gun and threatened to use it if not given prescription drugs.  The Boone Police release say the man entered Walgreens around 9:30 p.m. Full Story

Fatal Fire Reported in Wilkes County

Fire has apparently claimed one life in a blaze in Wilkes County in a Saturday. Details are yet to be released by Wilkes authorities, but reports on CFP alerts indicates that a mobile home in Wilkes County was destroyed in an afternoon fire Saturday, and that one person at the home was killed.
