The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Avery, Mitchell, and Yancey counties that will be in effect from 6:00 a.m. Tuesday through 7:00 a.m. Thursday.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for several counties in the area including Ashe, Alleghany, and Watauga from 11:00 p.m. Monday until 11:00 a.m. Wednesday.
