Avery County Splits Night With Madison

The Lady Vikings improve to 16-6 overall and 9-1 in conference play with a win over Madison on Friday night 77-58.

Vikings were lead by 21 from Kimberly Gragg, Hayley Pyatt with 17

and 14 points from Katie Ellis.


In the second game of the night Madison gets the win 92-50 over the Avery men.

Kyle Cable with 14 points and Michael Pittman with 13 points.


2 games are left in the regular season for the Vikings.

Tuesday Feb.12 at Mountain Heritage and Friday Feb.15 hosting Mitchell on Senior Night. Full Story

Mountaineers, LSU face-off in 2008 Opener

Two national champions are set to battle in the 2008 college football season opener.  


    Three-time defending FCS National Champion, Appalachian State Mountaineers, will open their 2008 season against defending FBS National Champion LSU Aug. 30, 2008.

    Appalachian State's 2008 football schedule was released Friday by Athletics Director Charlie Cobb.

    The contest replaces a previously scheduled meeting between the two teams that was set to be played in 2009.
