Fisher DeBerry, who spent nine years as an assistant coach at Appalachian State University, has been elected to the College Football Hall Of Fame.

Sophomore Cody Penny, who played at South Caldwell  High School, has put together two productive seasons at the University of North Carolina.

No. 17 North Carolina broke open a tight ballgame with four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning and downed Appalachian State University baseball, 7-2, on Tuesday afternoon at Boshamer Stadium.
