Appalachian State University men’s soccer will participate as scheduled in this weekend’s Davidson adidas Classic in Davidson, N.C. In their first matches since the death of head coach Shaun Pendleton, the Mountaineers will face Gardner-Webb on Friday at 5 p.m. and Detroit on Sunday at 5 p.m. at Davidson’s Alumni Soccer Stadium.

Matt Nelson, who has been an assistant coach with the Appalachian State University men's soccer team, has been named the acting head coach for the remainder of the season with the sudden passing of former head coach Shaun Pendleton on Tuesday.

Junior John Williams (Rutherfordton, N.C.) tallied the lone goal of the match, and sophomore Thomas Rusling (Sheffield, England) made five saves to lead the Lees-McRae College men's soccer team to a 1-0 win over host Lenoir-Rhyne University on Wednesday night.
