McVeigh Scores Twice, ASU Defeats UNCG, 2-1

ASU junior Sam McVeigh (Charlotte, N.C. / Charlotte Catholic) had a breakout day, as she earned her first two goals of the season to lift Appalachian State women’s soccer (6-10-2, 2-6-2 SoCon) to a 2-1 victory over Southern Conference opponent UNCG (8-8-1, 7-2-1 SoCon) at UNCG Soccer Stadium on Sunday.
The game gives Appalachian its sixth win of the season, one more than coach Sarah Strickland’s debut season in 2010.

ASU Men’s Soccer Ties Furman; Unbeaten for 11 Straight

In yet another nail-biter finish, Appalachian State men’s soccer (8-2-4, 3-0-2 SoCon) tied Southern Conference opponent Furman (11-2-4, 2-1-2 SoCon) in a scoreless tie on Saturday night at ASU Soccer Stadium.

Mountaineers Blitz Bulldogs, 35-17

Appalachian State University, ranked sixth in the nation, scored 21 points in a 12:46 span of the second quarter to turn 3-0 deficit into a 21-10 halftime lead and cruised to a 35-17 win over visiting Samford on Saturday at Kidd Brewer Stadium. UPDATED: Pacers outlast Bobcats In Five Sets

The University of South Carolina at Aiken women's volleyball team rallied from a 2-1 deficit against Lees-McRae College on Saturday, winning the last two sets to defeat the Bobcats in five frames on the final day of Lander University's Crossover Tournament.
