Registration open for Girls on the Run 5K

Registration is open for the ZAP Fitness Girls on the Run 5K to be held May 3 at 10:30 a.m. The non-competitive run will begin at Appalachian State University’s Kidd Brewer Stadium and follow a mostly flat course through campus.

CCC&TI Announces Summer and Fall Semester Registration for New Students

Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute will begin registering new students for the Summer 2014 semester on April 10 on both the Caldwell and Watauga Campuses. Final registration for summer will be held on Tuesday, May 13. Summer classes begin on Thursday, May 15.

Pre-kindergarten Applications Available April 7

Applications for pre-kindergarten classes in the Watauga County Schools will be available beginning April 7. The classes are part of the state’s NC Pre-K program and are open to four year olds that meet state eligibility requirements.

Wells Fargo grant will support scholarships for underrepresented students

A $250,000 grant from Wells Fargo will support the Dr. Willie C. Fleming Endowed Scholarship Fund at Appalachian State University, created to provide scholarships to underrepresented students. The grant will be made over a two-year period and counts towards the $200 million Campaign for Appalachian.
