BOONE – Joseph Toney, Boone native and Appalachian State freshman majoring in graphic design and minoring in entrepreneurship, won second place in a global ski design competition sponsored by one of the world's top professional freestyle skiers, T. J. Schiller.

There have already been a number of ‘Fish Finales’ this fall as the curtain draws on the long High Country career of broadcaster and musician Bill Fisher. Festivities and a performance this Friday may be the final act, barring one final home ASU football game. 
Employees came back from their Thanksgiving break to a beautiful winter scene at Grandfather Mountain on Friday. Gusts to 80 mph have kept the top half of the Mountain closed but visitors have still been able to enjoy a dusting of snow and ice coating the trees.
Sunrise on the parkway near blowing rock this morning was very inspirational!
