The Panthers now have eight of their ten draft choices under contract. Edwards was selected in the third round of the National Football League draft in April. He was the 89th player selected overall. The Panthers pulled off a trade with the New England Patriots to acquire Edwards, a two-time Walter Payton Award winner and four-time All-America. The Panthers coughed up a second round pick in 2011 for Edwards.
Edwards, a quarterback by trade at ASU, has been moved to wide receiver by the Panthers. Ironically, Edwards was a wide receiver during his junior year in high school. He is also the first college player in Division I history to amass more than 10,000 passing yards and 4,000 rushing yards in his career. The Panthers begin training camp at Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC on July 28. They begin pre-season play at Baltimore on August 12.

Armanti Edwards is finally a professional football player. Edwards, who backboned Appalachian State University to a pair of national championships, has agreed to a four-year deal with the Carolina Panthers. The deal was agreed upon on Thursday night The deal is worth 2.5 million dollars with a $710,000 signing bonus.
