A small single-engine plane sank into the waters in the Catawba County end of Lake Norman after crash landing last night before dark.   According to Iredell County emergency officials, the BEECH F33A Single-Engine plane crashed into the lake near the town of Sherrills Ford, just before 7:20 p.m. WSOC-TV and WBTV are reporting that the pilot was able to escape from the plane and wasn't seriously hurt in the crash.
