The Appalachian State football team is scheduled to open the season at Chattanooga on Saturday, September 4. And the game may be televised.
Sports South, a leader in college athletics, has contacted Chattanooga about the possibility of televising that season opener between the Mocs and the ASU. The game is currently scheduled to be played at 6 pm, but if the game is televised, the contest could be moved up to a 3 pm start. Stay tuned............. NOTES: ASU will play its home opener against Jacksonville on Saturday, September 11. It will also be Hall of Fame Day at Kidd Brewer Stadium. Former track & field and cross country coach Al Fereshetian (1989-1995), who produced 12 Southern Conference championships, football player Johnny Jennings (1987-1990), a three-time All-SoCon performer and who ranks as the all-time leader in fumble recoveries and was the all-time leader in tackles when he graduated, and women's basketball player Beth (Laney) Queen, a three-time All-SoCon performer and the SoCon Player of the Year in 1989 will be inducted into Appalachian's Hall of Fame. Former Athletics Director Roachel Laney will receive a Special Service Award from the ASU athletic department. Under his guidance from 1990-2004, ASU produced 71 SoCon titles, 17 post-season appearances, 13 Commissioners Cups and two Germann Cups. The group will be honored during halftime ceremonies on September 11. |
