Dylan Norris pitched well, but it wasn't good enough on Thursday morning.

Norris, a rising senior at Watauga High School and the Pitcher of the Year in the Northwestern 3A/4A Conference this past spring, went four stong innings in a starting role for the Region 7 All-Stars in the opening round of the North Carolina State Games at UNC-Charlotte. Unfortunately, Region 7 was held scoreless and lost to Region 5 by a 4-0 score in its first-round game.
Max Linville, a rising junior at WHS, went 0-2 on the day at the plate. Linville, who was an All-NW3A/4A Conference selection last spring, led the Pioneers with six home runs and he was also tied for the team lead in doubles (nine) and stolen bases (five).
Region 7, which only madeĀ fourĀ hits in Thursday's first-round game, plays Region 1 Friday afternoon at 1 pm at UNC-Charlotte.
