The Southern Conference has announced that it will fully restore its post-season tournaments beginning this fall.
Following a year of cutbacks, the SoCon will reinstate an eight-team tournament in men's and women's soccer as well as volleyball beginning this fall; the SoCon will also reinstate an 11-team field in men's and women's tennis, and a nine team field in softball in the spring of 2011. Those tournaments were reduced to four teams each in an effort to reduce costs during the 2009-2010 academic year. Appalachian State University will host the men's SoCon soccer tournament in fall of 2011; and ASU will host the SoCon softball tournament in spring of 2012. |
