The College Sporting News has college football fever.

On Friday, the CSN released its pre-season Football Championship Series Top 252010 Any Given Saturday Poll, and the Appalachian State University team was ranked third. Villanova, which defeated Montana last season to win the national championship, is ranked No.1. The Wildcats received 81 first-place votes. Montana ranked second and received seven first-place votes. The Mountaineers, who are third in the poll, did receive two first-place votes.
William & Mary (three first-place votes) and Southern Illinois (one first-place vote) round out the top five. New Hampshire, Elon, Richmond, South Dakota State and South Carolina State round out the top ten.
Furman is 20th in the poll; Wofford, Chattanooga and Georgia Southern were among teams receiving votes.
The Colonial Athletic Association lead the way with six teams in the Top 25; the Big Sky Conference had four; the Missouri Valley Football and Southern Conferences had three each; the Ohio Valley and Southland Conferences had two each; and the Big South, Great West Football and Mid-Eastern Athletic Conferences plus the Ivy and Patriot Leagues were each represented with one squad.
The Mountaineers have won five consecutive Southern Conference championships in a row. They reached the national semifinals and lost to Montana last season. ASU opens the season at Chattanooga on Saturday, September 4 at 6 pm. Our coverage begins at 4 pm on WATA 1450 AM.
