The Appalachian State University men's basketball team will be playing in the inaugural Governor's Cup on Cancun, Mexico December 22-24. The eight-team field will include Ole Miss, Southern Mississippi, Colorado State, East Tennessee State, Northeastern, St. Louis, and Texas State. The Apps (24-13), who made it to the College Basketball Invitational semifinals last season, return a veteran group, including Donald Sims, a prolific scorer who led the nation in free-throw shooting.******************************************************************************************* Asheville to host SoCon Tournament 2012-14 The Southern Conference men's and women's basketball tournament is heading back to an old stomping ground. ******************************************************************************************** ASU to host SoCon mens soccer and softball tournaments The Southern Conference also annouced on Thursday that Appalachian State University will be the host for a pair of Southern Conference tournaments.
