Kevin Cantwell was named the new men's basketball coach at Carolina Day High School in Asheville, NC.

Cantwell, who has 27 years of coaching experience, was the head men's basketball coach at Appalachian State University in the 1980s. He was 61-78 with the Mountaineers during that stretch. He was also an assistant coach for the Mountaineers for six years.
And he spent 16 years as an associate head coach with Bobby Cremins (who coached at ASU and led the Mountaineers to the NCAA tournament in 1979)  at Georgia Tech. Cantwell has coached or recruited 22 NBA players in his career (a majority of those when he was at Georgia Tech). He left the college game in 2000 when Cremins stepped down in Atlanta.
He replaces Lee Stafford at Carolina Day, who was 25-38 in three years. Carolina Day High School is a Class 2A school in the North Carolina Independent School Athletic Association. The Wildcats, who were 12-10 last season, are members of the Carolinas Athletic Association.
