A healthy drop—that’s what state officials saw in the Watauga County April jobless rate, released Friday.
The 7.6% rate was a one-month 1.2% reduction in joblessness from the 8.8% rate recorded in March, and was a relief after noting that the leisure and hospitality sectors saw a decrease in jobs in the state—but apparently not in the high country. April rates for Avery and Ashe were 9.1 and 11.3%, that as 99 of the state’s 100 counties registered drops in the jobless rate. Watauga’s rate was 6th lowest in the state. |
