Senior Danielle Thorpe of Appalachian State University was denied her third trip to nationals on Saturday.
Thorpe, who was seeded ninth in the women's triple jump, finished 27th with an effort of 40-feet, 8 1/4 inches. Thorpe, who qualified for nationals during the indoor season in the triple jump, did produce a season-best effort of 43-feet, 2.25 inches. Thorpe fouled on her first two attempts on Saturday. Kimberly Williams of Florida State won the event with an effort of 46-1/2. |
