The North Carolina High School Athletic Association has announced that the state cross country championships will have a new home this fall. Normal 0

The state championships for all classifications for both men and women will be held at Beeson Park in Kernersville on November 6, 2010. The new agreement was approved by the NCHSAA Board of Directors and is for four years.

Beeson Park, which consists of 103 acres and is only the third venue in the last 30 years to host the state cross country championships, replaces Tanglewood Park in Winston-Salem.

“We are truly excited about the state championships going to Beeson Park,” said Davis Whitfield, Executive Director of the NCHSAA. “We also want to thank Tanglewood Park for the fine job they did hosting our championships the last eight years.”

Tanglewood Park hosted the state finals from 2002-2009. Before that, the state finals were held at McAlpine Park in Charlotte from 1980-2001.
