11:26 a.m. - Boone’s very own Music on the Mountaintop was named one of the nation’s top music festivals by Blue Ridge Outdoors Magazine.

Festival promoter Jimmy Hunt said he was completely shocked to see Music on the Mountaintop named one of the nation’s top eight festivals.  He explained, “When I picked up the magazine, flipped through the festival guide and saw that Music on the Mountaintop in our third year was right in between Bonaroo and DelFest, it was just a huge honor.  I was shocked.  I started laughing, actually, because it’s amazing how blessed we are to be considered one of the best festivals in the country.”

Hunt said he believes the fact that Music on the Mountaintop is considered such a success is a testament to Boone and how hospitable the region is to music festivals.

Tickets have not yet gone on sale, but the festival will be held on August 27 and 28.
