The Boone Police Department Narcotics Unit has charged a pharmacist with the theft of narcotics from a local pharmacy.
44-year-old Susanne Smith Bowers, of Asheville was arrested March 8th and charged with one count of larceny by employee and two counts of possession of a Schedule II controlled substance. Bowers, employed as a pharmacist at Kmart in Boone, was suspected of taking drugs from the pharmacy after an audit. She is alleged to have taken oxycodone and hydromoprhone over a two-week period of time. She was placed on a $3,000 secured bond and given an April 12th court date.
