p1000738.jpg6:44 p.m. - The State Bureau of Investigation arrested a suspect on arson charges in connection with the house fire in Blowing Rock two weekends ago.

The fire occurred at a home on Ski Crest Park Drive on Saturday, April 17 around 5:40 p.m.  No one was injured in the blaze, but the fire caused heavy damage to the home.

Aaron Miller of Blowing Rock Fire and Rescue said investigators knew the fire was suspicious immediately after the fire was put out.  Miller said, “As soon as the fire was extinguished we went in and began a cause and origin investigation and determined it to be suspicious very quickly.”

The name of the suspect is unknown at this time, but High Country Radio has been in contact with area authorities and will pass along that information as soon as possible.  Miller said the suspect did not live at the home.
