6:27 a.m. - In celebration of Earth Day, the state of North Carolina is extending a four-day Energy Star Appliance Replacement and Rebate Program that gets kicked off today.

The Associated Press reports that customers will receive a 15 percent rebate when they purchase Energy Star-rated refrigerators, freezers, clothes washers or dishwashing machines today through Sunday.
