12:38 p.m. - The wreck that claimed the lives of two volunteer Blowing Rock firefighters has killed another man according to the N.C. Highway Patrol.

The Highway Patrol’s Office in Asheville said 51-year-old Jeffrey Basset, of Florida, passed away from injuries on Thursday afternoon that stemmed from the wreck that occurred nearly two weeks ago.

Basset’s wife was driving south on Highway 221 on Sunday, March 21, when a northbound Ford Mustang that was driven by volunteer Blowing Rock fireman Jeremy Gordon Bolick struck the Bassets’ Chrysler passenger vehicle.

23-year-old Bolick and his passenger, 20-year-old Tommy Wright, were pronounced dead at the scene.
