11:59 p.m. - Boone Mayor Loretta Clawson returned from Washington, D.C. last week after attending the National League of Cities 2010 Congressional City Conference.

According to Boone officials, the North Carolina League of Municipalities sponsored the four-day conference.  Clawson serves as 2nd Vice President of the League.

During the conference, local government representatives were able to exchange views with members of the Obama Cabinet and other high-ranking government officials.

Mayor Clawson was also able to spend time with Senator Kay Hagan and talk with her about challenges facing the Town of Boone in the future and to thank her for her help in obtaining the Preserve America Communities Designation for the Town of Boone.
