The Appalachian State men's basketball team earned its first post-season bid in four years on Friday.

The Mountaineers (22-12), who won the North Division title in the Southern Conference and reached the SoCon tournament championship game last Monday, have accepted an invitation to play in the second-annual CollegInsider.Com Tournament.
The Apps will host a first-round game Wednesday night at the Holmes Center against an opponent yet to be determined. The CollegeInsider.Com Tournament is primarily a 16-team, mid-major tournament. Old Dominian defeated Bradley in the finals last season.
The tournament quarter-finals will be played March 22, the semi-finals will be played March 24-25, the finals will be played March 30.
The Mountaineers haven't played in a post-season tournament since 2006, when they lost to Ole Miss in the opening round in Oxford, MS. This is Appalachian's second post-season appearance under head coach Buzz Peterson, who led ASU to the NCAA Tournament in 2000.

The Apps are led by Donald Sims, who leads the nation in free-throw shooting, and who led the SoCon in scoring averaging better than 20 points a game. Sims was an all-conference selection and was named the SoCon player of the year by the media.
Wednesday night's first-round game will tip-off at 7 pm. Our coverage begins at 6:15 pm on WATA 1450 AM.

NOTES: Tickets for Wednesday's game can be purchased online at goasu.com, or by calling the ticket office at 1-828-262-2079.
