Samaritan’s Purse Chilean Relief Update: 3/6/10 PDF Print

2:11 p.m. - Several Latin American nations are rallying behind Chile in their response their earthquake disaster.


Peru, Cuba, and other countries are flying in relief items, medical equipment and personnel.  Bolivia’s president and vice-president have also committed to donating half of their salaries to quake victims.  This gesture is extremely significant because Chile and Bolivia have not had full diplomatic relations since the late 1970’s.

Samaritans’ Purse is also continuing their relief efforts in the country.

SP spokesperson Melissa Strickland said the team has distributed water, relief items and almost 20 tons of food through a network of 40 churches.

Trucks loaded with food are scheduled to arrive in Concepcion every other day.  Team members are also traveling to coastal areas today to assess the need for water and other necessary relief.

SP is asking for everyone to pray for earthquake victims in both Haiti and Chile as well as those responding to the disasters.  You can find out how to donate at
