Longtime educator and current principal at Cove Creek Elementary School, Tom Trexler, announced he will run for the Watauga County Clerk of Superior Court.

Trexler said he has taught, coached, or been involved with administration in Watauga County Schools for 32 years and believes he has the right experience and skill set necessary to serve as an effective Clerk of Superior Court.

Trexler explained that he believes there are four important qualities voters should look for in a Clerk for Superior Court: 1) trust and integrity; 2) an effective and efficiently run office to better serve the public; 3) to be fair and impartial to all Watauga County citizens and other agencies; 4) to provide outstanding and friendly service to all.

Trexler has been married to his wife, Sandra Edmisten, for 28 years.  The couple has two daughters.

So far, Trexler is one of three candidates looking for the primary nod from the Democratic Party.  In the primaries, Trexler will run against Steve Combs and Dianne Cornett Deal.
