Blue Ridge Electric is preparing yet again for another winter storm, but this time it looks like wind may be a bigger issue than precipitation.

BREMCO’s public relations coordinator Renee Whitener said the corporation is again on high alert status should outages occur this evening and into Wednesday.

Weather predictions are calling for wind gusts of up to 65 miles per hour and Whitener said these could cause tree limbs to blow into power lines or cause trees to fall.

Whitener explained, “It’s important to remember that during periods of high winds downed power lines are a strong possibility.  Downed lines can still be energized and therefore dangerous or even deadly.”  If you see a downed line, call BREMCO’s downed power line at 1-800-451-5474.
