Thirteen candidates have officially filed to run for local offices at the Watauga County Board of Elections.

Yesterday was the first day candidates could file for this year’s election.  Director of the Watauga County Board of Election Jane Hodges said ten candidates filed yesterday and three filed today.

Here is a list of candidates who have filed for local elections in the 2010 election so far (incumbents in boldface):

(D) Cullie Tarleton – NC House District 93

(D) Lowell Thomas – County Commissioner District 4

(D) Winston Lee Kinsey – County Commissioner District 5
(R) Nathan Miller – County Commissioner District 5

(D) Len (L.D.) Hagaman – Sheriff

(D) Steve Combs – Clerk of Superior Court
(D) Dianne Cornett Deal – Clerk of Superior Court
(D) Tom Trexler – Clerk of Superior Court
(R) Lowell Younce – Clerk of Superior Court
(R) Wanda Howell – Clerk of Superior Court

Charlie Wallin – School Board

The filing period ends at noon on Friday, February 26.  The primary election will be held May 4.
