Boone saw a new daily record low temperature when the mercury dipped to two degrees at 7:43 this morning.

The previous record low for January 8th was five degrees and it was set back in 1986.

Officials with the National Weather Service said the snow is expected to continue through tomorrow with accumulations of about an inch and a half by tomorrow night.

Temperatures are expected to stay below freezing and wind chills could continue to dip to subzero levels through the weekend.  Considering the weather over the past few weeks, the High Country is expected to experience a bit of a minor heat wave with temperatures around 40 degrees Monday through Thursday.
