Construction led to computer thefts PDF Print

Construction at West Wilkes High School is believed to be responsible for security breaches that resulted in the alleged theft of $12,300 worth of computer equipment.
Sometime in the past week, according to deputies, equipment including three Macintosh computers, a hard drive, and four data projectors disappeared from the campus. Several doors have been unlocked this summer due to the ongoing construction projects, and deputies say that’s probably how the alleged thief got to the computers. The equipment was allegedly stolen from the library. Serial numbers will be entered into a national crime database, officials say. Wilkes deputies have no suspects at this time.
