The University of South Carolina has hired longtime App State Offensive Line Coach Shawn Elliott.
According to the Gamecock Athletics’ official website, head coach Steve Spurrier made the announcement today.
Elliott replaces Eric Wolford, who reportedly accepted the head coaching position at Youngstown State University last month.
Elliott told GamecocksOnline, “I'm really excited about the opportunity to coach at South Carolina. It will be a challenging job and one that I am looking forward to and embracing. I'm excited about getting there on Monday and hitting the ground running.”
Elliott is a former defensive end for the Mountaineers, and has coached with the football program since he earned his bachelor’s degree from ASU in 1996.
He has served as the offensive line coach at App State for nine seasons.
The University of Connecticut downed the Gamecocks 20-7 in the PapaJohns.com Bowl over the weekend.
