Appalachian State second baseman Wes Hobson has been named a pre-season All-American by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.
The Tucson, AZ publication has named Hobson to the 2010 Louisville Slugger third-team All-American squad. Hobson put up some big numbers for the Mountaineers last season. He batted .380 with 89 hits, four triples, 60 runs-batted-in, a .628 slugging percentage and a .452 on-base percentage. Defensively, he only made three errors in 270 chances for a .989 fielding percentage. He owns a career .346 batting average at ASU, and he's on pace to replace Isaac Harrow as Appalachian's all-time leader in several offensive categories. The Apps, who won 27 of their last 34 games last season to finish at 33-21, open the 2010 season February 19 against Presbyterian at the Marriott Classic in Spartanburg, SC.
