Officials at the National Weather Service have issued an Ice Storm Warning for the region tonight into tomorrow morning.

Freezing rain is expected to begin this evening and continue into Christmas morning.  Around a quarter of an inch can be expected along the Blue Ridge and areas along either side of the Blue Ridge can see between a third to a half an inch of icing.  Weather officials said this amount of icing may down tree limbs, power lines, and stick to some roadways.

The National Weather Service has also issued a wind advisory.  Sustained wind of 15 to 30 mph with gusts of 50 or 55 mph is expected.

The Ice Storm Warning is in effect from 9:00 tonight until noon tomorrow.
