The Charlotte Observer has released its fall sports, all-area teams.

Kayla Schneider, Darby Middlebrook and Hannah Barbour of the Watauga High women's cross country team were named second team to the All-Observer squad, and first team to the All-Piedmont team.

Peter Vandenberg of the WHS men's cross country team was named second team to the All-Observer and All-Piedmont squads.

Shannon Herndon of the WHS women's tennis team was named first team All-Piedmont.

Regionally, Lauren Robertson of Hibriten was named second-team All-Observer.

And in football, linebackers Darius Lipford of Hibriten and Patrick Blalock of A.C. Reynolds, and running back Casey Randolph of Burnsville-Mountain Heritage were named to the Associated Press All-State team.
