The Watauga County Schools after school program is now a participant in the Child and Adult Care Food Program, which means the school system is able to be reimbursed for a portion of the costs of snacks provided during the schools’ after school program.
According to Marshall Ashcraft of WCS, the snacks that are given to children in the after school program is included in after school and are not sold as in the school lunch program. The snacks are paid for by a combination of CACFP funds and after school fees.
