The Villanova Wildcats took home their first NCAA National Championship when they downed the Montana Grizzlies 23-21 last night at Finley Stadium.
The Wildcats’ speed seemed to be the difference in the game as Montana appeared to have trouble catching up to Villanova on the edges. Villanova wideout, Matt Szczur was named the game’s most outstanding player as he finished with 227 all-purpose yards. Szczur racked up 68 receiving yards, 43 return yards, and 159 rushing yards. The junior receiver lined up as quarterback in the Wildcat formation several times on the evening.
