Senator Kay Hagan said she agrees with President Barack Obama’s announcement to send additional troops to Afghanistan.

Hagan said, “I was encouraged by his announcement of the additional 30,000 troops going into Afghanistan. I think we’ve also got to look at the request to NATO.  NATO needs to send additional troops to supplement those 30,000.  I think the key point here is to disrupt, dismantle, and defeat the Taliban in Afghanistan so we will have security here in our country.”

According to Hagan’s office, she also questioned Secretary Hillary Clinton, Secretary Robert Gates, and Admiral Michael Mullen at this morning’s Senate Armed Services hearing on the Afghanistan strategy.
